RCMP dispel rumour that child was hit by a vehicle


first_imgFort St. John RCMP are dispelling rumours that a 12 year-old boy was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night.Various social media and other media outlets had reported that a child had been hit by a vehicle around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the area around 93 Ave. and 86 St.- Advertisement -Sergeant Steve Perret says this was only a rumour and police had actually responded to a call to assist BC Ambulance after a 21 year-old woman had experienced a drug-related medical issue. Perret says the drug-related incident had occurred at the woman’s apartment at 83 Ave. and 86 St. The woman then got in her vehicle and drove off.He says officers eventually stopped her vehicle at the intersection of 93 Ave. and 86 St., where she was arrested for causing a disturbance because she was yelling and acting hysterical at the time.The woman was taken to hospital, treated, and later let go without charges.Perret says he would like to remind the public to ensure they check the source of their information before spreading unreliable information as fact.Advertisementlast_img
