Tolls to Resume on FL Roadways This Week
The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that toll collections will be reinstated Thursday, after they were suspended ahead of Hurricane Dorian.On Thursday, tolls on the following roads will be reinstated:– Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike (SR 821)– I-95 Express Lanes– I-595 Express Lanes– I-75 Express Lanes– Alligator AlleyOn Friday, tolls on these roads will be reinstated:– The Turnpike Mainline (SR 91)– Beachline Expressway (SR 528)– Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869)– SR 417– SR 429The Central Florida Expressway Authority will also resume collecting tolls on Friday on the following roads:– SR 408– SR 414– SR 451– SR 453– SR 538– SR 551On Saturday, toll collection will resume on the following roads:– First Coast Expressway (SR 23)– I-295 Express Lanes
Bothamley edges Nelson’s Richardson to claim Masters curling crown
The Heritage City is the place to be later this month as teams from throughout the Kootenays travel to compete in the Mixed Zones February 23-24 at the Nelson Curling Club.Defending champion Tom Buchy is back to defend his crown against four other teams. Draws will be Saturday 9 a.m., 2 p.m., 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the final. Trail hosts Senior Championshps The provincial senior mens and womens playdowns are in Trail B.C. February 11-17. Two local rinks are entered in the tournament after earning berths last month in Cranbrook.The Myron Nichol team, with Nichol, Rick Brown, Terry Kryzcka, Rob Babiarz) and Tom Shypitka rink, Shypitka, Nelson’s Fred Thompson, Don Freschi and Bill King will be competing on the men’s side.One rink from the Boundary Country, the Theresa Hiram rink will be on the women’s side.Along with Hiram are Lee Bedard, Rose Beauchamp and Cindy Pettapiece. . The Doug Bothamley rink of Creston came away as the big winner at the Masters 60-plus curling playdowns Sunday at the Nelson Curling Club.Bothamley, with a long history in curling competition having competed in the 1980 Brier for the Yukon/NWT, edged out Nelson’s Rob Richardson for the title.The tournament attracted three rinks from the Kootenays — Bothamle, Richardson and Sparwood’s Ralph Will.The Bothamley, which includes Ladd Pavlis, Vern Ronmark, Ross Gowan and fifth player, Terry O’Connor, now advance to the provincials February 28-March 3 in Lake Cowichan.Mixed teams head for Nelson
