A Grand Kru-based Non-governmental Organization, Friends of Franbarine International Incorporated (FOFI), is calling on local and international organizations to help urgently intervene in order contain the spread of the deadly Ebola virus in the county.According to the executive director, D. Nyandeh Sieh, Sr, the deadly Ebola virus hit the county in almost a month and was necessary to begin fighting it at the early stage as a mean of avoiding any further spread to other places.According to him, it is important for county authorities and citizens of Grand Kru to focus on doing everything possible to contain or combat the Ebola virus in Parluken.‘We are calling on the county leadership not to allow the outbreak to spread to other parts of Grand Kru. The citizens are practicing communal farming where five to fifteen persons are occupying a single tent on the farm.  Worst of all, there are no health facilities in most of the areas,” he explained.According to him, the county was faced with inaccessible condition of roads for motor vehicles to ply easily, causing women to tote babies on their backs and walk long distances.He explained that, “If the deadly Ebola virus is allowed to spread to other parts of the county, it will surely be an uncontrollable disaster for the people and the county at large,” Mr. Sieh noted.Ebola, he said, can only be contained in Parluken if authorities of the county and citizens caring for Ebola victims, provide proper awareness, vigorously carrying out anti-Ebola messages in the area affected by the virus.He disclosed that, the organization was considering the establishment of an Ebola taskforce on the county level, district level, chiefdom level, clan level and town or community level in outscoring better result.“If these things are done as part of Ebola campaign and Ebola burial teams are established, we can effectively combat Ebola from the county,” he said. Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) read more
