The No. 17 ranked University of Wisconsin Badger wrestling team will travel to Michigan State and Penn State this weekend in hopes of earning its first dual victory in Big Ten play this season. After a disappointing start of 0-2 against Iowa and Northwestern, the team has high expectations going into the duals this weekend, which marks the Badgers’ final road trip, as they host the concluding four duals at the UW Field House.Wisconsin travels to Michigan State on Friday night to take on the only unranked team in the Big Ten Conference. The Spartans have only one ranked wrestler in No. 6 Franklin Gomez at 133 pounds.“The expectation is to perform at a high level and force our will on our opponents,” head coach Barry Davis said. “If we do those things and have success at every weight class I think we can come away 2-0 this weekend. As a coach I’m trying to keep the guys focused on the task at hand.”The Badgers currently lead the all-time series against Michigan State at 24-16-1. The last meeting between the two teams resulted in a Wisconsin victory, 26-12.Wisconsin will travel to University Park, Pa., on Sunday to take on No. 16 Penn State. The Nittany Lions currently have five nationally-ranked wrestlers, including one returning All-American in No. 2 Bubba Jenkins at 149 pounds.Other ranked wrestlers for Penn State include No. 8 Dan Vallimont at 157, No. 11 Jake Strayer at 133, No. 16 Quentin Wright at 174 and No. 17 Brad Pataky at 125.“Penn State will be tougher, but I think if people wrestle as they have been as of late that we should be able to go in there and get the job done,” senior Zach Tanelli said. The Badgers currently have five ranked wrestlers, including No. 1 Zach Tanelli at 141 lbs, No. 3 Dallas Herbst at 197, No. 5 Kyle Ruschell at 149, No. 9 Kyle Massey at heavyweight and No. 10 Andrew Howe at 165.Davis is very happy with how his wrestlers have been performing recently and is setting the bar high.“Ruschell has made a good adjustment to his weight class at 149 as long as he remembers to wrestle seven hard minutes and let his skills take over,” Davis said. “Andrew Howe, being a true freshman, the poise that he has and the focus that he has is very impressive. You can’t count out Massey and Herbst either.”Tanelli said he is confident about the weekend and feels the team can come away with two dual victories. That confidence is matched by freshman Andrew Howe.“We’re going to win this weekend and get a national championship,” Howe said.Davis believes the team will do well this season because of the experience, knowledge and motivation the veteran wrestlers bring to the team.“We’ve got more of a veteran team this year and the leadership is good,” Davis said. “The two captains Ruschell and Herbst — with help from Tanelli and Massey — have been around a while and they know what they’re training for and the things they need to do in order to be prepared each week.”“It helps me a lot,” Howe said of the veteran presence. “They give me something to follow and model myself after during workouts as well as matches.”Even with such leadership and confidence in the locker room, Davis said there are still many things the team can improve upon.“There are some areas we need to continue to work on such as leg defense, some riding, and some turning on top,” Davis said. “If we can improve on those things we should be in great shape for this weekend and the rest of the season.”
Jon Rahm, who held the overnight lead by one stroke from McIlroy and fellow Team Europe Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood, faded badly to finish five back.Fleetwood ended up at 13 under alongside world No. 1 Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker, while Tiger Woods claimed a tie for 30th at six under.History. Rory McIlroy emerged from a packed field to claim a thrilling victory at The Players Championship at Sawgrass on Sunday, sounding a warning to his Masters rivals. The four-time major winner recovered from a double-bogey six at the fourth to card a 70 and finish 16 under, one stroke ahead of Jim Furyk, securing his first PGA Tour win since the Arnold Palmer Invitational 365 days ago. With Rahm and Fleetwood in the final group, the former’s challenge faded following a bogey at the 15th, but an eagle three at the next hole gave the Englishman cause to dream. However, Snedeker bogeyed the last hole before Fleetwood and Rahm found water on 17, meaning a closing par was enough for McIlroy to get the job done. The Northern Irishman, who was already a leading contender for Masters glory, will now be the man to beat at Augusta as he seeks to end his elusive search for the career grand slam.
“I’ve been in a lot of situations throughout my career — where I was helping a young guy or serving as a stopgap kind of guy or being part of a rebuilding situation — so to come to a situation where it was more established, where they’ve got the quarterback (Carson Wentz) and a veteran defense and a lot of good players on the offense, that to me was enticing.”The Eagles have two preseason games remaining before they face the Redskins in Week 1 action Sept. 8. Nate Sudfeld injury update: Eagles No. 2 QB (broken wrist) has surgery, expected back in 6 weeks, report says Eagles signing veteran QB Josh McCown to 1-year deal McCown spent the last two seasons with the Jets, appearing in 17 games and throwing 19 touchdown passes. He announced he was stepping away from football in mid-June but changed his mind when the Eagles became interested in signing him.“It was an easy sell, to be quite honest,” McCown said (via the Eagles’ official website). “More than anything, it was the comfort level I had talking with Doug (Pederson), where they’re trying to take this thing and where they’re trying to get back to and understanding the expectations that they have here. Pederson discussed the team’s decision to add the 16-year veteran when he met with reporters Sunday.”It kind of falls in line with not only the injury situation, but also the fact that when we have an opportunity to add a little value, add a little depth, add a little competition to that spot, a veteran guy who has been around the league,” Pederson said. “I’ve said this all along, the quarterback position is not immune to any of this, so that’s why we did it.” Related News Doug Pederson thinks Josh McCown will be an asset for the Eagles, even if he never steps on the field. The 40-year-old quarterback came out of retirement and inked a one-year deal with Philadelphia this weekend after backups Nate Sudfeld and Cody Kessler suffered injuries in the preseason.

Mozilla releases first Servo Nightly build by Martin Brinkmann on July 02, 2016 in Internet – Last Update: May 22, 2018 – 9 commentsMozilla released the first public Servo Nightly build yesterday for Mac and Linux devices to give interested users options to play around with the new web rendering engine.Servo is a new browser engine created by Mozilla Research and built by a global community of individuals and companies including Mozilla and Samsung.Source code of the project is written in the Rust programming language. Servo is designed for application and embedded use, and designed to be compatible with the Chromium Embedded Framework which companies such as Valve use in their own products.Servo Nightly buildNote: The released Servo Nightly build is a prototype that you cannot yet compare to established web browsers. You will encounter display issues on many sites, and functionality concentrates currently on displaying websites.Servo Nightly builds are provided for Mac and Linux devices only currently. Instructions on how to get Servo running are provided on the download page and are easy to follow. Extract the archive after downloading it, and execute ./runservo.sh if you are on Linux, or drag Servo.app from the extraction directory to the Applications folder and run it from there if you are on a Mac.The browser displays a new tab page on start listing sites that it renders fine for the most part. You may click on any to load them, or enter URLs manually instead to test them out. Many sites won’t render correctly at this point in time, but that is to be expected for such an early build. The interface is as bare bones as it gets. You get an address bar to search for content or load sites directly, and a menu that displays the open tabs currently. As mentioned earlier, this preview build is not designed to replace existing web browsers, at least not for the foreseeable future. The Servo team published a short video showcasing the first Servo Nightly build. The new tab page links to four tech demos that you can run using the browser. You may run those demos in other browsers as well by copying the URL and loading it in the browser. The demos seem to run faster using Servo than any other browser you load it in.The release of the first Nightly build of Servo marks an important milestone in development. While it may take a long while before anything mainstream comes out of it, it highlights that the project is making good progress. Please note that the builds won’t auto-update currently. This means that you will have to download them separately whenever updates are made available. The team plans to publish Windows and Android versions soon as well. And Firefox? You are probably wondering how Servo relates to Firefox, and whether Mozilla plans to integrate Servo or part of it in the Firefox browser. The Oxidation project aims to integrate Rust into Gecko and Firefox, and with it comes the opportunity to ship Servo components in Gecko/Firefox.A long term goal of the project is to replace Gecko components with those written in Rust and shared with Servo.SummaryArticle NameMozilla releases first Servo Nightly buildDescriptionMozilla released the first public Servo Nightly build yesterday for Mac and Linux devices to give interested users options to play around with the new web rendering engine.Author Martin BrinkmannPublisher Ghacks Technology NewsLogo Advertisement
