Gerry Adams, the former Sinn Fein leader, is to publish a “negotiators’ cook book” based on his experiences during the peace process.The book will include some of the best-kept secrets of the talks which produced the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, he said.It is co-written by long-time advisors Ted Howell and Padraic Wilson and expected to be published before Christmas.Mr Adams, speaking at the West Belfast Festival, said: “The British never fed us. It contains some of the best-kept secrets of the Irish peace process.”Mr Adams said for many years republicans had not kept proper records of their negotiations. “There would be meetings and no record of the meetings,” he said. Man critical after hitandrun accident at Yarrowkabra

A 32-year-old man is clinging to life in the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was struck on Tuesday evening along the Yarrowkabra Public Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway in a hit-and-run accident.He was later identified as Yogeshwar Itwaroo, 32, of Lot 93 Campbell Avenue, Campbellville, Georgetown.Based on reports received, about 19:45h, Itwaroo was walking along the roadway when a motor vehicle struck him down and left the scene.The injured man was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Diamond hospital, but was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.Police have since retrieved a portion of the number plate of the vehicle that carries the digits “703”. Police are making enquiries to ascertain the registration number of the vehicle, which can ultimately lead to the arrest of the driver.
